Managing Workplace Stress: Strategies for a Healthier You

Attend our stress management workshop, designed to educate employees or job seekers about stress, its effects, and provide them with strategies and tools to effectively manage and reduce stress in their professional lives. Tell Me About Yourself

Often, the first question asked in an interview after introductions are made. “Tell me about yourself.” An open-ended question, that more times than not ends the interview. Sure, you will continue to receive questions, but for all intents and purposes, the interviewer has concluded you will not be hired. Don’t lose the job offer your first few minutes in the interview. During this period, participants engage in a job search process during which they receive guidance, support, and assistance from a career counselor. The assistance may include: Career Guidance, Resume and Cover Letter Assistance, Job Search Strategy, Interview Preparation, Networking Support, Skill Development, and more.

TABE Testing and ACE Sign Up

Come take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), a requirement for entry into many adult educational programs (e.g., GED programs).

You can also sign up for the Alabama Career Essentials (ACE). The ACE is a FREE training course designed by the Alabama Community College System to provide Alabamians with relevant, cutting-edge, and industry-driven employability skills training to better prepare individuals for the Alabama workforce. The main goal of the new ACE course is to ensure current and future workers are equipped with the skills necessary to enter the 21st-century Alabama workforce.

The ACE course is designed to lead individuals to a specific career pathway credential, employment, or job promotion. Students enrolled in the ACE course will have several pathway-specific stackable credential opportunities. Participants who successfully complete the ACE course will earn the Alabama Certified Employee credential and will lead to additional industry recognized training and certification options.

ACE courses are delivered online, hybrid, and in-person. Individuals without Internet access may use our career center to complete their ACE training.

Grit

As a society we are taught to revere people with talent – musicians, athletes, actors. However, most people, even the most talented among us, can’t rely only on talent to bring success. It takes GRIT to bring true success into focus. This session will help individuals explore GRIT, understand what it is, and determine if they have it. Session attendees will be challenged to think about their purpose and inspired to develop strategies that will help them pursue their purpose in the most effective manner, which may include developing grit and a growth mindset.
